The Liebster Award

Hello! I was tagged for this award by the lovely Faith at Stories by Firefly! Thank you, Faith!
(Note: For some strange – and frustrating – reason, every time I post, my blog doesn’t show the spaces between each section, and so I apologize for it all running together. If anyone knows why my blog isn’t allowing spaces, I’d love some insight on how to fix it!)

The rules for the Liebster Award:
Link back to the person who tagged you.
Answer their 11 questions.
Tag 11 bloggers.
Ask them 11 questions.
Let them know you’ve tagged them.
~The Questions~
1. What is your personality type? I haven’t taken one of those tests before to find out, but since Faith so kindly left a link to one – 16 Personalities – I took it and my results were INFJ-T (Introvert, intuitive, feeling, judging).
2. What part of writing a blog post takes the longest for you? Oh, getting all the links together and making it look ‘presentable’. And adding the categories and tags…if it were just a matter of writing my thoughts, it might not take me as long to post. ^.^
3. Would you rather smell fresh-cut grass or campfire smoke?  Fresh-cut grass. :)
4. What’s the last song you listened to? (And did you like it?) Forget and Not Slow Down by Relient  K.  And yes, I liked it quite a bit. I looked it up because one of the characters in the last book I read mentioned it and I agree with him that it fits him perfectly. (Yes, I’m talking as if he’s a real person. I just wish he really was!)
5. What’s the last movie you watched? (And did you like it?) It’s been a little while since I’ve watched a full movie…we’ve been watching tv shows on dvd more often…but the last movie I saw I think was “Cars”, but I only watched some of it, because I was reading. :D
6. What’s the last book you finished? (And did you like it?) “Family Lies, Deadly Ties” by J.A. Marx. It’s not due to be released till May, but I was blessed to be an early reader. And I LOVED it. It was amazing, absolutely amazing.
7. Do you have a reading goal for this year? I do indeed. My GoodReads goal is 70 books, but I’m more so hoping for 100…we’ll see if that happens though!
8. Would you rather use a pen or a pencil? If you chose pen, what color of ink? Depends on what I’m writing – for letters, I prefer pen and I love colourful ink (pink, purple, whatever’s available!), and for stories I prefer pencil. :)
9. What’s your favorite historical time period? That’s a toughie…a tie between Viking/Medieval and 1940’s. :)
10. Describe yourself in one sentence. (It’s almost a question.) Umm… Quiet, quirky, bookdragon, eclectic, dragonite (aka HTTYD fan), and uniquely Rae. XD How’s that? I’m not too good at this…
11. Do you enjoy tags? (Or are you only filling this out because you feel obligated? B-)) Hehe, I do enjoy them indeed! ^.^
As for who I tag…everyone! *throws confetti and glitter* But really, anyone who wants to do this tag, consider yourself tagged by me, and shoot me a link so I can read your answers! :)
(Annnd, also, before I sign off – don’t forget about the Writer’s Unite Contest going on! We want your entries!)

I was awarded with The Liebster Award

Indeed! I was quite excited to receive an email from Shantelle at A Writer’s Heart  letting me know that she had awarded me. :) So, why not get started?

The Rules:

1. Link back to the blogger who nominated you.
2. Answer the 11 new questions.
3. Nominate other bloggers (however many or few as you’d
4. Create 11 new questions for the bloggers you nominated.
5. Notify the new nominees of their award.
Questions Given to me to Answer:

1) What is the driving passion of your life?

My Lord and Savior. Truly, He is for whom I think and breath. It is by Him that I am. You know that verse, “Apart from Me you can do nothing”? I have found that completely and utterly true in my life. Over and over, Jesus has shown me – ever so gently no less – how much I need Him, and how He is always, always, always carying me as His sheep. He is my comfort, my grace, my Redeemer. And He is my driving passion.

2) Can you name a favorite character from a movie you’ve seen recently?

Just one? ;) Characters are my favourite. But let’s see…from a movie I’ve seen recently…We watched “Sense and Sensibility” (2008) and favourite character from that is Elinor Dashwood.

3) What’s one book (or chapter, verse, whatever…) of the Bible that has particularly touched you and why?

Ezekial 34:11-17 has really rooted itself deeply in my heart. Why? Because it ministers to me where He has me right now. I am His sheep/lamb and He is my Shepherd and He will never forsake me. I cling to that. :)

For thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I, even I, will both search my sheep, and seek them out. As a shepherd seeketh out his flock in the day that he is among his sheep that are scattered; so will I seek out my sheep, and will deliver them out of all places where they have been scattered in the cloudy and dark day. And I will bring them out from the people, and gather them from the countries, and will bring them to their own land, and feed them upon the mountains of Israel by the rivers, and in all the inhabited places of the country. I will feed them in a good pasture, and upon the high mountains of Israel shall their fold be: there shall they lie in a good fold, and in a fat pasture shall they feed upon the mountains of Israel. I will feed my flock, and I will cause them to lie down, saith the Lord God. I will seek that which was lost, and bring again that which was driven away, and will bind up that which was broken, and will strengthen that which was sick.” – Ez. 34:11-17

4) How tall are you? *smiles*

Haha, um…Five Feet, Two and a half inches.

5) What’s one thing a book needs to have in order to make it a favorite for you?

Faith. Strongly God centered and teaching, yet not in a condemning way. I really, really love and thrive on Godly fiction!

6) How did you start and what’s your favorite thing about blogging?

I started blogging back when I was like…10/11 when I joined HomeschoolBlogger. It was just fun then. I don’t think I had a particular reason! My favourite thing about blogging now is connecting with others, and sharing my love of books. :D

7) What’s something exciting that has happened in your life recently?

Getting closer to my book being published. :)

8) Why do you write (blogs, books, whatever)?

Books: because writing is in me. It’s in me blood, one could say. :D I write because I love it, and because I hope to reach out to others and show God’s healing as He has shown me.

9) Can you describe (or find a picture of) a different-era outfit that you’d love to wear?

Oooh, you don’t want to get me started!! I have two boards on Pinterest devoted to my favourite outfits from other era’s! I will try my best to just keep it down to ONE though. ;)

That is just beautiful.

I love draping sleeves…*sigh* But at the same time, I love this kinda thing:

SCA Garb Norse Viking Medieval Gown 2 Piece by camelots0closet, $62.00

I’d wear both styles all the time if I could!

10) Favorite songs?

“Worn”, “No Man is an Island”, “On and On” and SO many others of Tenth Avenue North’s, and many, many, many songs of TobyMac’s. I’m also enjoying “Drops in the Ocean” by Hawk Nelson, and “Soul on Fire” by Third Day.

11) Any advice for your fellow Christian bloggers/writers?

Focus on God only. In all you do, but also in your writing, whatever kind that may be. Everything we do is for Him, and He will guide us along His narrow path. Don’t focus on wordcounts, pages, or popularity, just keep your eyes on our Savior! He will do the rest. :)

11 New Questions:

1) What is the driving passion of your life?

2) Do you have a (few) favourite books? If so what are they?

3) Characters. How do you feel about them? Do you write them, or enjoy them from ‘afar’ (reading, movies, etc. Which really isn’t from ‘afar’. One can get really attached to characters…like I do!)?

4) How do you like to spend your free time?

5) What got you blogging in the first place?

6) Are you a tea drinker or a coffee drinker?

7) How many novels/stories have you written (unpublished, or published)?

8) Favourite animal?

9) Do you have a favourite Fairy Tale?

10) How about a favourite book of the Bible?

11) What are some of your hobbies, in addition to writing? :)

And I award/tag:

Faith Blum

Jack Lewis Baillot

Sarah Holman

Alicia G. Ruggieri

Heather FitzGerald

If any of you have already been awarded, then don’t worry. :) I look forward to reading your answers to the questions, though, if you have time to answer them!

Thank you, Shantelle, for awarding me! I’ve enjoyed it. :)

SunFlower Award

Hello readers!
I’ve been so kindly awarded by Chantelle on her lovely blog, here:

Rules are:
First, state 11 facts about yourself. Answer questions that have been given to you. Then nominate 6 or 11 people for this award and let them know they’re nominated and if they are nominated they will answer the My Questions given at the end.

11 facts about myself:

  1. I have been reading quite a few books on WWII lately. “Coincidentally”.
  2. I dyed my hair with Blue Kool-aid Wednesday, and enjoyed the results the following day(s).
  3. I just checked out a couple books on sword-fighting from the library.
  4. I love William from Downton Abbey
  5. Finding facts about yourself is hard, especially 11 of them
  6. Fish oil does not taste good, even when flavoured with strawberry. But it’s excellent for you, and your teeth, so I still take it (just in swallow-quick style).
  7. The above fact was more of a random fact, than a fact about me. Oopps.
  8. I purposefully destroyed a book the other day. And am using the papers responsibly. :D
  9. I’m quite short.
  10. I am an expert grass-picker (for my guinea pigs and mule).
  11. I still like to watch the kid show “Arthur”.

Given Questions:

1. What country do you live in? USofA
2. Dream country? Greenland/Iceland.
3. How many animals do you have? A lot…mule, ducks, chickens, turkeys, cats, guinea pigs, rabbits, horses.
4. Favourite book? Besides the Bible…that’s hard! Top three are: “Pearl in the Sand” by Tessa Afshar, The Knights of Arrethtrae series by Chuck Black, and “Bella at Midnight by Diane Stanley. But then there’s also “The Theif” by Stephanie Landsem. I LOVE that book… I can’t pick a favourite. XD
5. Favourite hobby? Probably reading. Writing is a close second, and followed by tomahawk/knife throwing.
6. Favourite food? Does chocolate count? ;)  Favourite food…Cheese-burgers – good ones.
7. Favourite singer? Toby Mac
8. How many languages do you speak? Unfortunately, only one. But I can say a few things in Russian and German, and am trying to learn Russian fluently.
9. What is your ethnic background? Well, quite a mix…on Mum’s side there’s Scottish, Irish and English, and on Dad’s there’s mostly Polish and a bit of Irish.
10. Favourite place to read your Bible? Lots of places. But I probably open up to Psalms and John the most.
11. Could these questions have been any lamer? lol! They could’ve been, yes! :D I thought these were good questions. :)

And now for “My Questions”:

  1. Favourite season?
  2. If you could visit any state in the US, which would you visit?
  3. What time period is your favourite?
  4. Do you prefer to live in the city or country?
  5. Write or read?
  6. Pens or pencils?

Okay, so these aren’t the greatest questions, but I couldn’t think of any, and I also know that there is only 6 there…that’s all I could think of. XD And I tag…oh goodness, I am so terrible at this. I tag whomever wishes to have it :D And you needn’t have a blog to answer the questions – if you want, you can just answer them in comment-form. Whatever floats your boat! :)

Thank you again, Chantelle, for awarding me!
