Eleven Questions

A while ago, Shantelle at Between the Pages of this Bookish Life, tagged me, and I am now finally getting around to posting my answers. ^.^ Thanks, Shantelle!

So, here we go!

The Rules:
Thank the person who nominated you
Answer the 11 questions they gave you
Name 11 facts about you
Nominate 11 bloggers to do this tag, and let them know
Give them 11 questions to answer
The questions:
1. What did you eat for your last meal? Homemade Pizza, last evening. :) It was delicious, as always!
2. What’s the best part of your average week? Hmm…I always look forward to Saturdays which is our rest-day of the week. :) I also enjoy Monday’s because of the mail ;)
3. Where is the most amazing place you’ve been? I haven’t been to a ton of places, but The Creation Museum is definitely up there, and up north will forever be one of the most amazing places to me. <3
4. One question you’d ask your favorite author? I’m afraid I’d be too much in awe to think of any reasonable question…besides, “How do you write such amazing books?” <3
5. What’s your favorite thing to do in the summer?  I don’t actually like summer. I know, gasps all around. I am a hardcore Winter and Fall fan. I like Spring well enough, but Summer is the season I dread. I highly dislike hot weather, and MN gets HOT. State of extremes. ;) But let’s see…I do like some things about Summer. Like golf-cart rides, and fresh air, and the green grass.
6. Last new author you tried out? (Did you like the book?I actually read a lot of books by new-to-me authors. :D The latest would be Kristin Billerbeck and her book, “The Theory of Happily Ever After” – and yes, I did like the book :) You can read my review for it here.
7. What’s the craziest thing you’ve done? Well, what exactly is the definition of crazy? Because I have a feeling most of my life would seem crazy to other people, but if we’re talking daring, or stupidest thing….let me think. I actually can’t come up with a good enough answer. XD
8. What’s a character trait you admire in others? Genuine kindness and selflessness.
9. What’s your favorite genre (to read)? What draws you to it? Hmm…I waffle between Biblical Fiction and Contemporary Fiction being my favourite. They each draw me in different ways. BF because it adds so much depth to the Bible, and CF because…well, honestly, I love a good (clean!!) romance…!
10. What’s one book that you wish more people knew about? Just one?!!! That’s too hard. I am a hardcore, recommend-everything by Tessa Afshar fan, but also I wish J.A. Marx’s Destiny Series was better known because it is AMAZING.
11. Do you like to cook/bake? No…? Is that an acceptable answer to this? I could lie and say something like “Oh I love it so much!” but…no. I know how to, and I prefer baking over cooking (because, yum. Baking means treats ;)) however, I probably know more cooking-related items…Anyway, it’s not a favourite past time of mine.
Eleven Facts About Me:
1.  I’m terrified of frogs. All kinds. But especially leopard frogs. *Shudders*
2.  I will eat most any vegetable, even if I don’t like it, but green beans are the exception.
3.  I’ve tried to get my nephews to call me the Hebrew name for aunt, which is ‘Doda’, but they only seem to remember to use it when they are being silly. ^.^
4.  I make homemade necklaces and sell them at our local farmer’s market. (You can see the items by clicking ‘Raechel’s Peculiar Treasures’ at the top of this blog)
5.  I have happily, and successfully, gotten my younger sister hooked on one of my favourite book series from when I was around her age. (The Bonnets and Bugles series – so good!)
6.  Snow, Winter, and the cold makes me happy. Very happy.
7.  When I was younger I had to avoid any food containing red-food-dye coloring because it would always cause my sensory-issues to become worse and make meltdowns occur.
8.  I love looking at bookish pictures, but am not so good at taking them myself.
9.  I’ve never been a huge tv-show watcher, but I fell in love with The Middle, and the series finale about made me weep, because what am I going to do now? ;)
10. I don’t like doing puzzles.
11.  I still play polly-pockets with my younger sister (and our games get quite hysterical).
There! I did it. But coming up with the 11 facts was hard. As for the 11 people I tag:
You, that person over there, you, that one person, the other person, you, oh yeah – you, and four other people. XD
Here are the questions:
1. What did you eat for your last meal?
 2. What’s the best part of your average week?
 3. Where is the most amazing place you’ve been?
4. One question you’d ask your favorite author?
5. What’s your favorite thing to do in the summer?
6. Last new author you tried out? (Did you like the book?)
7. What’s the craziest thing you’ve done?
8. What’s a character trait you admire in others?
9. What’s your favorite genre (to read)? What draws you to it?
10. What’s one book that you wish more people knew about?
11. Do you like to cook/bake?
Let me know if you do it, because I’d love to read your answers. :)

Q&A Blog Tag

q-a-tag

Hellloooo.

I was tagged by Ashley for the Q&A tag – thank you Ashley!

Here’s how it work: you answer ten questions, create ten questions of your own, then “tag” ten other people to participate!

1.If you could meet any author, who would you want to meet? Oooh that’s hard. Never mind, scratch that – super easy. I’d meet author MacKenzie Morganthal. Yep. No doubt about it!

Mike Nesmith

2. What is your dream job? Oh golly…I’m awful at this question. I guess the simple answer would be: I don’t have a dream job.Not really. I want to be a couple things, but I don’t know if I’d classify them as “dream job”. I just want to want what God wants. :)

3. If you could travel to either Narnia, Middle Earth, or “a galaxy far, far away”, which would you choose to visit? Why? Narnia. Because it’d be pretty neat, and also because I’m not “into” LotR of Star Wars. :)

4. What is your favorite genre to read? Magic-less fantasy/fairytale, and yes…Clean Christian Romance.

5. Who is your favorite fictional character, and why?   Whoah. What a question. Is this answerable?!

I have so many favourite fictional characters. :D Molly Gibson (Wives and Daughters), Elinor (Sense and Sensibility), Walter (“A Distant Melody”), Jace (“Resistance”), and of course my own characters. Really, I don’t think I can answer this question justly. I love so many characters.

6. Do you have a favorite Bible verse? Again, I have so many. Psalm 27 is special to me though, among many other passages. :)

7. What is/was your favorite school subject?

PSYCHO JELLO, A Comprehensive Glossary of Monkees gifs (part 1)

Favourite subject in school? Funny question. ;) I guess history was probably my favourite.

8. If you’re a writer, what is your favorite part of the writing process (rough draft, editing, etc)? Rough draft. I love the first writing process. Editing…not so much.

9. What is your favorite book-to-movie adaptation? I’d like to say “Wives and Daughters” by Elizabeth Gaskell but I haven’t read the entire book yet…I’ll go with “North and South” by Elizabeth Gaskell though – I love the book and movie!

10. Are you a coffee drinker or a tea drinker? Tea drinker for sure. I love tea and have at least one cup a day. :)

Questions for the people I tag:

  1. What is your favourite Season?
  2.  What is your favourite hot drink?
  3.  Do you have a favourite author? (Or top 3)
  4.  If you’re a writer, what is your favourite part of the process?
  5.  Would you rather read the book  or watch the movie?
  6.  You can have any pet in the world – what would you choose?
  7.  Are you an outside person or an inside person?
  8.  Do you have a favourite music band/group/singer?
  9.  Favourite online media site (Pinterest, Twitter, Facebook, etc.)?
  10.  What are you currently reading?

And I tag:

and anyone who wants to participate. :)

Thanks again, Ashley for tagging me!

By The Book Tag

Good day, fellow online friends. :)

Faith at Stories by Firefly! tagged me for the By the Book tag, and it looks quite fun!

What book is on your nightstand now?

Well, I don’t literally keep books on my nightstand, besides my Bible and maybe a nonfiction, but the book I am currently reading is “Courageous” by Dina Sleiman – such a beautiful book!

What was the last truly great book you read?

Oh let’s see…I’ve read several that have not been so good, but the last truly great book would probably be “Land of Silence” by Tessa Afshar, followed by “If He Lives” by Sarah Holman and “The Fences Between Us” by Kirby Larson.

If you could meet any writer – dead or alive – who would it be? And what would you want to know?

Ah, hard! I like Faith’s answer of John from the Bible – it would be amazing to meet him and hear his accounts firsthand.

As for alive…I want to meet several authors! Tessa Afshar – I’d just like to listen to her talk, hear how God inspired each of her stories, etc. I’d also love to meet Chuck Black and hear first hand about his allegorical fiction. I could go on… :D

What books might we be surprised to find on your shelves?

Hmmm, maybe The Bonnets and Bugles series by Gilbert Morris…I loved that series when I was younger. Would love to re-read them. :) Or perhaps some of the Amelia’s Notebooks books…I absolutely loved those in my young tween/teenage years and upon finding copies at a book sale for cheap/free, I knew I had to get them. :)

How do you organize your personal library?

Haha, um…well, it’s a little jumbled to the outside eye perhaps. I organize by most favourites on middle shelf, great books on top and bottom (and actually some favourites are on the bottom because my middle shelf is too full!), and a different bookcase for “To-Read” :D

What book have you always meant to read and haven’t gotten around yet?

I have many of those. Like, a lot. ^.^ But maybe…”Wives and Daughters” by Elizabeth Gaskell. I adore the movie, and so badly want to read the book, but haven’t gotten to it yet…someday! :D

Anything you feel embarrassed never to have read?

Any number of the classics. I admit I’ve always had a hard time getting through one….I did read “North and South” by Elizabeth Gaskell though, and thoroughly enjoyed that. But anyway, yeah, classics, like Jane Austen, the Bronte sisters, Charles Dickens, etc.

Disappointing, overrated, just not good: what book did you feel you are supposed to like but didn’t?

Alright. I’m gonna say it. “A Time to Die” by Nadine Brandes. I had very high expectations. And on some accounts it was good. But…it disappointed me, and made me angry. I can’t say much without giving it away.

Another would probably be…”The Prophetess” by Jill Eileen Smith and “Bathsheba” by Angela Hunt.

Do you remember the last book you put down without finishing?

“The Fiercest Fight” by Brent King. Not my kind of book.

What kind of stories are you drawn to? Any you stay clear of?

Up-lifting, encouraging Christian books. Biblical Fiction, magic-less fantasy, etc. If they have a strong Christian theme, I’m there. :) As for what I avoid, that would be books containing magic/sorcery of any kind.

If you could require the president to read one book, what would it be?

The Bible, definitely.

What do you plan to read next?

Not entirely sure…perhaps “The Cautious Maiden” by Dawn Crandall….or whatever I feel like. :)

And I tag….

Soleil

Shantelle

and whoever wants to do it. :) Let me know if you do, so I can read your answers! :)

And also, just a quick note: I updated my “Book Sale!” page here, so there’s new books! :)

A Tag of Various Questions

Good day!

I made up the name for this tag, as I am unsure if it has one…I was nominated for it by the lovely Shantelle on Google+ and decided to do the tag here on my blog instead. :) So, here it is:

Name: Raechel

Age: 20

Role model: My Mum – so thankful for her godly example!

Hobbies: Reading, writing, being on the computer (yep, it’s a hobbie. ;)), knife/tomahawk throwing, and letter-writing.

Crush: If I have one, why would I tell?! ;) I guess I could say Mr. Thornton (North and South), or Noah (“Family Lies, Deadly Ties”), or Jace (!! “Ilyon Chronicles”), or Walter (“A Distant Melody”), or any number of my other fictional crushes. ;) Haha.

Best friend: This is information I am not at liberty to disclose. Ahahaha. XD

Favorite band: TobyMac. Mmmhhmmm. And Tenth Avenue North is great too. And some other ones. But mainly, TobyMac.

Favorite Song: Right now? Hmmm…I don’t know. ?? How’s that for an answer.

Favorite Movie: “Wives and Daughters”, “North and South”, “Persuasion”, the How to Train Your Dragon movies (of course!), and I know I’m forgetting some….

Favorite animal: Cats! Yep, definitely cats. I love them. :) I also love elephants, and mules, and guinea-pigs, and other cute creatures. Oh and Dragons. ;)

Favorite subject: I am out of school, but favourite always was history I suppose. =)

Pens or pencils? Probably pens, as I  use them more, but I do love a sharp pencil!

Summer or winter: This is so easy – Winter. I love it, and I never get sick of it. :)

Tea or coffee: Definitely tea. I don’t drink coffee.

Good day or bad day: It’s only just begun…I’m gonna say good day though since that’s what I want. :)
Birthday: That’s for me to know, and you to never find out. Muahaha. XD Okay, not really. But I’m still not tellin’. It’s sometime in the Fall. ;)

Tag the follower you’ve known the longest: Oh golly…I don’t know. I think I’m gonna just go ahead and say Kenzie because I’ve known her for many, many moons (ah, years…).

Tag five of your best internet friends: I’m going to break the rules and not do this, only because I don’t want to unintentionally forget to list someone and then hurt their feelings due to my forgetfulness. So friends, you know who you are and I deeply appreciate each one of you!! Truly, I do. My internet friends are amazing and I am very thankful for ye all. :)

Something that makes you happy: Receiving letters in the mail – and any kind of mail, really. I loooove getting mail. That’s gonna be a mandatory for my future beau – he has to write me letters. ;) Haha, don’t know how he’ll like that one, but we’ll see. XD Other things that make me happy are pretty rolls of washi-tape, my cats, getting online messages from me friendsys, and knives/swords/tomahawks. Those make me happy too.

Something you’re looking forward to: Receiving the books I recently purchased by one of my favourite authors (J.A. Marx), and getting caught up on my old review-books so I can properly enjoy my Sabbatical. I’m sure there’s other things more exciting to look forward to, I’m just drawing a blank. XD

Tell a story in one sentence: “Once upon a time, there was a maiden writing a blog post about a tag, and she was asked to tell a story in one sentence, which perhaps seemed a bit daunting to her at the moment because her mind was not wanting to produce something of that creative order, so instead the maiden settled on this rambling sentence and left it at: The End.”

Nominate any number of people: I tag you, and I tag you, and I tag you! Okay for real…Faith P. at Stories by FireFly!, Daelynn at Just Dilly, and Soleil at Reviews by Soleil.

Have a good day!

The Liebster Award

Hello! I was tagged for this award by the lovely Faith at Stories by Firefly! Thank you, Faith!
(Note: For some strange – and frustrating – reason, every time I post, my blog doesn’t show the spaces between each section, and so I apologize for it all running together. If anyone knows why my blog isn’t allowing spaces, I’d love some insight on how to fix it!)

The rules for the Liebster Award:
Link back to the person who tagged you.
Answer their 11 questions.
Tag 11 bloggers.
Ask them 11 questions.
Let them know you’ve tagged them.
~The Questions~
1. What is your personality type? I haven’t taken one of those tests before to find out, but since Faith so kindly left a link to one – 16 Personalities – I took it and my results were INFJ-T (Introvert, intuitive, feeling, judging).
2. What part of writing a blog post takes the longest for you? Oh, getting all the links together and making it look ‘presentable’. And adding the categories and tags…if it were just a matter of writing my thoughts, it might not take me as long to post. ^.^
3. Would you rather smell fresh-cut grass or campfire smoke?  Fresh-cut grass. :)
4. What’s the last song you listened to? (And did you like it?) Forget and Not Slow Down by Relient  K.  And yes, I liked it quite a bit. I looked it up because one of the characters in the last book I read mentioned it and I agree with him that it fits him perfectly. (Yes, I’m talking as if he’s a real person. I just wish he really was!)
5. What’s the last movie you watched? (And did you like it?) It’s been a little while since I’ve watched a full movie…we’ve been watching tv shows on dvd more often…but the last movie I saw I think was “Cars”, but I only watched some of it, because I was reading. :D
6. What’s the last book you finished? (And did you like it?) “Family Lies, Deadly Ties” by J.A. Marx. It’s not due to be released till May, but I was blessed to be an early reader. And I LOVED it. It was amazing, absolutely amazing.
7. Do you have a reading goal for this year? I do indeed. My GoodReads goal is 70 books, but I’m more so hoping for 100…we’ll see if that happens though!
8. Would you rather use a pen or a pencil? If you chose pen, what color of ink? Depends on what I’m writing – for letters, I prefer pen and I love colourful ink (pink, purple, whatever’s available!), and for stories I prefer pencil. :)
9. What’s your favorite historical time period? That’s a toughie…a tie between Viking/Medieval and 1940’s. :)
10. Describe yourself in one sentence. (It’s almost a question.) Umm… Quiet, quirky, bookdragon, eclectic, dragonite (aka HTTYD fan), and uniquely Rae. XD How’s that? I’m not too good at this…
11. Do you enjoy tags? (Or are you only filling this out because you feel obligated? B-)) Hehe, I do enjoy them indeed! ^.^
As for who I tag…everyone! *throws confetti and glitter* But really, anyone who wants to do this tag, consider yourself tagged by me, and shoot me a link so I can read your answers! :)
(Annnd, also, before I sign off – don’t forget about the Writer’s Unite Contest going on! We want your entries!)
