And so January has come to an end.

And so January has come to an end..png

January is over. And I guess I am kind of sad…I really like January. ^.^ Good thing I like February too. I’ll start crying or panicking when the end of March rolls by….and my precious Winter slips away….

So! How was your January everyone? Did the first month of the new year start out well for you? I hope so. :)

The month found us slowly trying to slip back into a semblance of a routine. As life quiets down some, it takes a little bit of time to really adjust to a routine, but I’m happy we’re finally finding it. I’m not a fan of chaos. :) I know sometimes we can’t avoid it, and we must find God through the chaos, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t thankful for a quiet routine.

Some highlights of the month….well, I adopted a new cat into the house. Yes, yes I did.

Funny Cat – 20 Pictures

(This is probably true…)

Why would I do that, you might ask if you knew our current tally of indoor cats? Well, dearest darling Pirate Kitty (yes, you read that absolutely correctly. I mean, I assume you did. I’m not actually hearing your pronounce it because of the internet and all that, but we’ll go with it) is a blind kitty. She was an outside cat, whom I loved. But her eyesite kept getting worse (it started out with her just not seeing out of one eye. Hence her name), and she could barely see her food bowl and therefore wasn’t eating much. So after prayer and consideration, I decided to use my saved up money and brought her in to the vet, and now she’s inside. She’s a bit….umm…wild. But adorable. And terrified of life and our other cats. Because frankly, two of our other cats are mean to her, poor dear. So our month has been filled with a lot of kitty-issues….but I’m so glad she is inside where it’s warm and she can have food whenever she wants. :)

I had a bit of a slow reading month. Only four books. I was really hoping to squeeze more in there, as I’m woefully behind on my review-book-pile, but I’m also learning to give myself grace especially in this aspect. The books will all get read. All reviewed. It just might take a bit of time.

These are the books I enjoyed:

Isaiah's Daughter (Prophets and Kings, #1)  Missing Isaac   The Melody of the Soul (Music of Hope #1)   A Song Unheard (Shadows Over England, #2)

Clicking on their covers will bring you to their reviews, if applicable. The first three have been reviewed/posted, but I am still working on finishing the review of the last one. :)

As for books I added to my collection….

010

The three standing up on the left are books I got in a couple swaps, the five lying flat are review books, the three standing on top of those and the one on the right are books from our library-book-sale, except for “Hearts Entwined” which I won in a giveaway. :)

I want to read allllll of them. I just need more time to fit them all in. XD

And I realized I never posted the pictures I took of the books I got LAST month…so I guess I’ll include them here, because I love pictures of books. ^.^

So, there we have it. Books, books, books. Plenty of reading to last me till I’m 50! ;)

ALSO! Before I leave off… you might remember this post from a few days ago:

Changes...

In that post, I mentioned upcoming posts, and I want to announce that I’ve devised a posting schedule which is quite new for this blog! God-willing, I shall post every Monday. These posts will be varied, and most likely not reviews. My review posts will go live during the week as I have them ready to post.

And this coming Monday, February 5th, we start off the new schedule with something very, very exciting!!! An… Author Interview!! Yessiree. So stick around for that, because it’s a good one. :D

This is what you can look forward to from my new posting schedule:

First Monday: Author Interview

Second Monday: Character Post

Third Monday: Devotional

Fourth Monday: Open-catagory – this is the day where I will post whatever random thing is on my mind. ;)

So, February is my trial-run for this schedule, but I do hope to make it a permanant thing. I’m pretty excited about it, and I hope you are too! :)

Comment and tell me about your January!

June Recap

I have a hard time believing it is already July, but so it is. Crazy. June was a very busy month life-wise and book-wise for me, but please forgive me if I don’t go into too much detail as I’m a bit drained and can’t remember a lot of details at the moment. :)

Oh, my blog here (and I) was interviewed recently on Inkwell Inspirations! You can check that out here, if you’d like:

And shall we continue on with this post with books?

I read a total of 9 books, I believe. Which is a great many for me. Those books were:

The Destiny of a Few by Sarah Holman  The Sweet Smell of Magnolias and Memories by Celeste Fletcher McHale   Infinite Tuesday by Michael Nesmith   Courage and Corruption by Sarah Holman   High As the Heavens by Kate Breslin   Dreams and Devotion by Sarah Holman   The Destiny of a Galaxy by Sarah Holman   Under a Summer Sky by Melody Carlson   If Ever I Would Leave You by Susan May Warren

If I’ve posted my review of the book, clicking on the image will lead you to that review.

Which was my favourite, you might ask? Hmm… Probably “High as The Heavens” by Kate Breslin and “Dreams and Devotion” by Sarah Holman. :)

As for books I got over the month:

057

These are my current review books. As you can see from the top list, I’ve already read “Under a Summer Sky” and will be posting my review within the next day or so. This month will be filled with more book reviews, so prepare yourselves. ;)

Yes, that is a Chik-Fil-A calander in the background. No, I have not had the pleasure of eating there yet, but my dearest darling friend was so kind to share this calander with me because she didn’t need it! And I love calanders. And cows. Really love cows.

So yes, more Susan May Warren books this month. :D I mean, she’s a Minnesotan author. Of course I need her books! ;)

Most of these books I got online, and I won the book “Arise to Fall” and the little tan book beside it that is related to this book, so that’s fun. So many good things to read!

And this is just a pretty picture, because I’m excited about finally buying this book, and I love bottles. Those are not the only ones in my collection, but I shan’t be sharing a picture of that here. ^.^

As for life…we’ve been very busy. My nephews have spent a lot of time here, which keeps us well-occupied. :) We’ve also been dealing with a predator problem again. Night after night whatever it is was getting chicken after chicken till we went from 12 to 8. And they weren’t easy catches either – we lock our chickens up every night. Whatever it was tunneled under or found a way through the top. We’re not actually entirely sure…

Dad put a trap out and we did get a skunk, and the trail camera we set out has captured plenty of raccoons, and then we also found a dead small weasle in the barn one morning – the cats must’ve gotten it.  One night after 10pm we had a run in with whatever creature had returned, but it ran off into the darkness behind the barn before Dad could get it. Not a good situation! But we did recently get 13 more layers, and so far we haven’t lost anymore. Praying it stays that way!

June was also filled with several bad storms, one leaving us without power for a whole day. But we “weathered” that out. :)

And if you’ve made it this far in this long post, here’s a reward picture of my baby kitty having to sit by my record player. She placed herself there…

How has your June been? Have you read any of the same books as I did in June? :)

These are a Few of My Favourite Things…

No, I’m not actually going to do a post on the Sound of Music. Hehe. ^.^

I was tagged by Faith at Stories by Firefly! for this tag, called “These are a Few of My Favourite Things”, and thus I shall do it! Here are the rules:

RULES:
• Write down ten of your favorite things.
• Tag at least three others!
As Faith said in her posts, I am not going to list my family, but know that they are definitely among my favourites. XD
  1. Books. Of course this is on my list. I love, nay, adore, nay, BREATH books. There is just something so special about losing yourself in a book, in the characters…yes, quite bliss, it is!
  2. Letters/writing letters. Yes oh yes. Nothing brightens my day quite like receiving a letter. And I LOVE putting together a letter to send out. Making little paper-crafts is a passion of mine. Sadly, I only have a few penpals, but I treasure them!on the blogThis is a small letter I sent to a friend, it kind of shows a couple of my ‘paper-crafts’. The glitter heart-card didn’t turn out quite as I wanted, but it’s still glitter-y so…! :D
  3. Boxes. I love decorative boxes. Even if I don’t know exactly what to fill them with, I still get them because they’re beautiful.
  4. Notebooks!! I have an exorbitant amount of notebooks, it’s not even funny. And I love them all.
  5. Washi-tape. Ah, glorious decorative tape. SO pretty. Rae's Washi-tape haul Dec 2015 (3) This is just a small piece of my collection…muahahaha!
  6. Cats.Cats are my favourite. :D We have four delightful indoor kitties and I love them to pieces!!
  7. All things How To Train Your Dragon – I’d be remiss without mentioning this! (I rhymed! XD). I won’t go into it extensively, since you all probably know of my love of HTTYD. <3
  8. Writing. Another known favourite of mine. I love to write. :) And I look forward to the day when I get to share my writing with you readers!
  9. Receiving packages. They’re usually books, and I love that. Being a reviewer is pretty great. :D
  10. Chocolate. Who could forget chocolate?? XD

So, there’s ten things I love! And now for who I tag…

Soleil at Reviews by Soleil

Kenzie at wherever you want to post. XD I know you don’t have a blog-blog, but you could use your website, twitter, facebook…whatever! I’d even lend you my blog if you want. :D

If you don’t want to do it, don’t feel obligated, but if you want to – great! I’d love to see. :)

Pinterest Favourites: Cats and Piggies

Hello! And Happy December 3rd :) Let me just say politely, gently, and in control-y…. WE NEED SNOW

*Ahem.* Okay, now that we all understand that, I will share a pin that I found amusing and true :)

5ecbae45bd6c201f80eabb3a29f31e05

“Just checking he’s comfortable” says the cat.
Haha. One of our cats, Nemo, would love to go sit in with one of my guinea pigs, until he tipped his cage and nearly scared Piggy silly. It was fun to watch them, though, before that happened, especially because Piggy was afraid of EVERYONE and just about everything, but he didn’t mind Nemo.
Very sadly, dear Piggy passed away a few days ago :( He was my… 5th guinea pig; I’ve had 9 total, including my three baby piggies I still have (who are not babies anymore). He also lived the longest – about 8-9 years! The average age I’ve found for piggies to live is 5-6. But diet has a huge play in that, and my family and friends can certainly vouch for the fact that I fed them extremely well.

So yep, there’s a pin! :D

Another Review: Newman’s Own Organic Cat Food (aaannnd…something I’m excited about)

NOO also was very kind to send me complimentary cat food to review – or rather, for our kitties to review!
They send a variety of canned soft-cat food and a bag of hard, adult cat-food. We have two cats that were very glad to try these out.
Nina is two years old, and Nemo is only some months old. Nina is picky, so she was a good reviewer ;) Both of the cats love food. A lot. (Nina looks like she does..her tummy…well, lets just say she’s not skinny!)
Nemo loved every kind of the soft-cat food and ate it up quite quickly! Needless to say, he is a big fan of it.
Nina, who is very picky about soft-food (honestly, if we buy it from the store, she only likes one kind, no joke) liked this soft-cat food as well – each kind, I believe, too. So that was pretty big for her!
As for the hard cat food, Nina is also eating that and appears to like it, I believe. I’m trying to get her to eat more of it than she does Nemo’s kitten food, because the kitten food makes her fatter. And she doesn’t really need that… ^.^
But yes, both of the kitties were very pleased with the chance to review food!! Thank you again, Newman’s Own Organics!!

And now before I go..I just wanted to get excited for a bit……
Tessa Afshar’s “Harvest of Gold” is officially out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ahhh!!! *Runs around screaming*! ;) It is the sequel to “Harvest of Rubies” and I am SO excited to start reading it!!! I’m seeing if I can get a review-copy. We’ll see. Either way, I am going to read it. Tessa Afshar also wrote “Pearl in the sand” (her first book she wrote) and it is EXCELLENT! Truly. I don’t use caps like that unless I mean it, so… :D
This is the cover:

Harvest of Gold

Yay!!!
