“Protecting the Poor” by Amanda Tero ~ Book Tour

This week signals the completion of the Tales of Faith series!

ABOUT THE BOOK

Sheriff Feroci is now lord over the province, and Abtshire has become a pit of injustice. Being forced into the lord’s service does not give Dumphey as many opportunities to help the poor as he desires. When attempts on his life drive him into the forest, this freedom opens a world of possibilities for helping others. But how can he do so when he is running for his life? And does God want him to do more than simply feed the poor?

Noel has always hidden behind the shadow of his older brother, Dumphey. When life forces him to stand on his own, will he still follow God in the corrupt world in which he lives? Would God really call him to do something that is beyond his power to do?

As Lord Feroci’s sinister plot comes to light, each lad has a choice to make. A choice that could cost them their lives.

My Review:

This was an exciting and meaningful retelling of Robin Hood. It’s been a while since I read the first two books in this series, but it was fun seeing familiar names.
Noel was my favorite character – he was so gentle and soft-spoken. He struggled with fear which I understand. He was just a sweetheart.
Dumphey was a valiant character as well, and following along his journey was enjoyable.
What I like best about this series is how godly and clean they are, while still being very enjoyable. The faith message is always paramount to the story, and the content clean and wholesome. Finding books that I can recommend to younger readers is a rare pleasure, and it’s great when they can also be enjoyed by older readers as well!
I enjoyed reading the conclusion to this series, and definitely recommend them!

“Quest for Leviathan” by Amanda Tero ~ Book Review

Release 01.jpg

“Quest for Leviathan” by Amanda Tero

Short story

My rating: 4 out of 5 stars

My review:

This was a great short story. It was unique, and definitely captivating, even though the pages were few. And the illustrations were splendid! I love the depth they added. Very well done. In ways, the short story gave off a slightly How to Train Your Dragon (book not movie) feel, but that could very well just be me. ;)
It had a Christian message of surrender which was very good.
My only “complaint”, if you can call it that, is that it was too short. I would’ve loved to read even a novella length of this story. :)

I received a complimentary e-copy of this book from the author I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine alone.

About the Book

Being a cripple is only the beginning of Lia’s troubles. It seems as if Bioti’s goal in life is to make Lia as miserable as possible. If Lia’s purpose is to be a slave, then why did God make her a cripple? How can He make something beautiful out of her deformity?

Raoul never questioned the death of his daughter until someone reports her whereabouts. If Ellia is still alive, how has she survived these ten years with her deformity? When Raoul doesn’t know who to trust, can he trust God to keep Ellia safe when evidence reveals Bioti’s dangerous character?

As time brings more hindrances, will Raoul find Ellia, or will she forever be lost to the father she doesn’t even know is searching for her?

If something she has written draws an individual into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ, it is worth it!

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding.” (Proverbs 3:5)

My Review:

This was a well written story, based on Cinderella – yet with a different twist, just as Miss Tero’s “Befriending the Beast” had.
I found this to be a enjoyable read, and liked it quite a lot. The faith-message sprinkled through out was very good, and the Bible verses gave great structure and depth.
I am normally a fan of sweet romances, yet even without a romantic interest, this story captured my interest and was a very sweet tale, showing the love of family.
Fairy-tale retellings have a soft spot for me, and “The Secret Slipper” was indeed a good retelling! I appreciate it being clean and ‘simple’ in all the good ways, yet with faith involved. I would definitely allow my younger sister to read a book like this, without concern.
(I’ve also read and reviewed the first novella, “Befriending the Beast” HERE.)

Book Review: “Befriending the Beast” by Amanda Tero

Befriending the Beast (Tales of Faith Book 1) by [Tero, Amanda]

Befriending the Beast by Amanda Tero

Book One in the Tales of Faith Series

My rating: 3.5 out of 5 Stars

About the book:

Belle has returned unannounced to the castle to restore her relationship with the king, her father. Her hopes are dashed with the devastating message: “The king refuses to see you.” Convinced that God has led her home, she is unwilling to return to Lord and Lady Kiralyn.

Time is running out for the decision that will change her life. When tragedy strikes, will she and her father be pulled further apart or knit together? Could she stay at the castle even if she will never see her father again?

My Thoughts:

This was a very good retelling of the familiar tale, Beauty and the Beast. And like other reviews have said, it was very unique in the fact that the Beast character was portrayed in this story as Belle’s father, instead of a romantic interest. I thought that was very clever, and very well-done!
I loved the medieval feel to it – it was rich in that. And the decorative formatting of each chapter was just lovely! I thought that was beautiful.
Well-written, and captivating. My favourite of Miss Tero’s books that I’ve read so far. :)
