Blog Tour: “‘Tis So Sweet” by Faith Blum

Trusting God is hard when nothing seems to go right. In Faith’s new book, Eleanor Miller learns that. But will she finally trust God in the end?

About the Book

Trusting God is hard

Eleanor Miller has never lacked for anything, but she wanted to become a schoolteacher anyway to instill the love of learning into other children. Unlike what happened with her brother, Grover.

Grover hated school and authority. He rebelled any change he could. When he almost killed a man, their family was torn apart and he was disowned.

Eleanor understands her father’s decision, but she worries she will never see Grover again. Will she find out how sweet it is to trust Jesus in everything no matter what happens or will she stop trusting Him completely?

Excerpt

Eleanor brushed her hair for the hundredth stroke that evening. The gray hairs were getting more plentiful. She sighed. As much as she loved teaching, she needed something new. Something different.

Seventeen years earlier, she had asked her brother to at least keep her informed about where he was. She knew he had married shortly after he left, but then ten years ago, he had abruptly stopped writing to her. His last known location was Castle City, Montana.

Eleanor set her brush down and sank to her bed. “Lord, is it finally time to go find my brother? If so, can You please make a way for me to get there?”

She lay back and pulled the covers over her. Her niece was more than ready to take over the teaching. She smiled. Hannah’s daughter, Serena, was the spitting image of her mother and only had one trait of Grover, his dark-brown hair. Serena was good with children and had been her helper for two years now.

Eleanor jumped out of bed, lit her candle, and hurried downstairs. In her father’s study, she snatched up the newspaper and opened it to the ads. Yes, she had remembered correctly. In the paper was an ad that said,

Firm, kind schoolteacher needed in Castle City, Montana. Must be able to start immediately.

Eleanor smiled. She would reply to the ad in the morning by telegram.
