Character Love

My literary crush is

I have a list. No, I’m serious. That is what I am posting. :D  I have a tendency to, well, fall in love with good, strong, (and most of the time, gruff,) guys in books.  Not every book, mind you, but when a book has one of those kind of guys, it’s hard not to fall in love. ;) So, without further ado, here is my list. And it’s not in order, because I couldn’t choose who’d be first. :)

  • Mr. Thornton of North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell
  • Captain Wentworth of Persuasion by Jane Austen
  • Loginus of The Thief by Stephanie Landsem
  • Aric of For Such a Time by Kate Breslin
  • Mitch  of Daisies are Forever by Liz Tolsma
  • Xavier of Daisies are Forever by Liz Tolsma
  • Jace of Heart of India series by Linda Chaikin
  • Sir Bentley of the Knights of Arrethtrae series (“Sir Bentley and the Holbrook Court”) by Chuck Black
  • Salmone  of Pearl in the Sand by Tessa Afshar
  • Snorri Thorbrandsson of  God’s Daughter by Heather Day Gilbert
  • Enosh of The Well by Stephanie Landsem
  • Darius of Harvest of Rubies/Harvest of Gold by Tessa Afshar
  • Prince Turveydrop of Bleak House by Charles Dickens (No snickering, please).

I think that is about it…though I’m sure I’m missing some ;)

I definitely have favourite female characters too, but haven’t yet created that list. Maybe I’ll work on that soon. :)

Who are your favourite male and female characters, and why?

  1. Snorri Thorbrandsson? Sounds an interesting name. Norwegian? Did you know I’m part Norwegian? That aside it took me a moment to register who Prince Turveydrop was but it made me smile when I did. I liked him too. But my “literary crush” from Bleak House was Allan Woodcourt.

    1. Snorri was a viking, so yeah, a bit Norwegian/Icelandic! No, I didn’t know that – that’s neat!
Haha, yeah, he’s not a main character, but I liked him a lot. :D And I can understand that; Allan Woodcourt is a grand character as well! :)

      1. Haha, I just found this again, as I was watching Bleak House last night! Man I love that mini-series!! Alun Woodcourt is still my literary crush lol!! (And I’ve learnt to spell his name right!!!!) I watched Daniel Deronda the other week. Have you ever watched it?? It’s really quite good. And I think he probably goes onto my list as well. Hehe. xx

        1. Hehe! Yes, I love Bleak House too! Mum, Dad, and I were watching it recently, but then life picked up and we haven’t gone back to it yet. But hey, I got to see the parts where Turveydrop was in. ;) Yes, I have seen Daniel Deronda! And I definitely agree that it’s a good one. :) Mum, Noah, and I right now are making our way through Lark Rise to Candleford. It is so annoying, yet so good at the same time. ^.^ Have you seen that series?
